Introducing Diesel West

October 28, 2015

Ben and I are excited to announce that our son, Diesel West, was born October 14, 2015 at 7:52 p.m. He weighed 8 pounds, 3.7 ounces, and was 20.5 inches long! He was born two weeks early, and completely healthy.

We are so excited to have Diesel with us, and I never knew how much I could truly love a little person as much as I do! Ben and I — not being huge baby people — have been completely shocked by how much we love being parents. Who knew? We were also completely shocked by how cute Diesel was right away, too. It just always seemed like babies always looked a little funky fresh out the oven. 😉

I’m incredibly thankful and praise God for how He so sweetly and lovingly answered our prayers throughout this entire pregnancy. I was horridly afraid of the entire “labor and delivery” process, and surprisingly getting the IV was the worst part of the entire deal. (I hate needles!)

Adjusting to life with a newborn at home hasn’t been as crazy as I originally imagined either. Diesel is a sleepy, little guy. I wake him up twice in the middle of the night to feed him, and then he goes happily back to sleep as long as he’s swaddled like a little burrito.

In this early stage, he has steel blue eyes and medium brown hair. His skin and hair are velvety soft. He has long fingers and toes, cute little feet and long, skinny legs. His ears poke out of his little hats. He gets cuter and cuter each day!

Every morning, he is wide-eyed and cooing, waiting for me to get up and change his diaper. He doesn’t cry. He just takes everything in, and stares intently at my face. He doesn’t particularly enjoy the cold chill of the diaper wipes, or getting his clothes changed (I guess he’s cold-natured like Ben).

Right now, he eats every 2-3 hours for about 10-15 minutes. He sleeps most of the day, but will wake up intermittently for at most an hour. This kid will sleep through any amount of noise — the roaring of my hairdryer, the noisy vacuum, some powerful thunder, and even this obnoxious off-tune train that is very close to our house!

Currently, we go through about 3-5 outfits a day until I eventually just give up and let him hang out in his diaper with a blanket. We’ve discovered that Huggies just doesn’t absorb or hold really anything this little guy puts in there so we’re going to try Pampers next! I’ve also recently had some trouble with spit-up, and it is testing my patience to hold Diesel in an “upright” position for at least 20 minutes so that gravity is on our side. It is super difficult to get him to straighten out his back to even sit him up or burp him — he prefers to curl up in a little ball (which is the cutest thing ever…until he spits up, ha).

Diesel’s favorite place to be is on his daddy’s or my chest, lying on his tummy. He is super cuddly and makes little squeaky cooing noises as he exhales. When he’s awake, he often furrows his brow, and just stares at you like he’s just deeply perplexed with how weird we look. It’s adorable. If you lightly tickle his cheek, he gives you this precious smirk. When he wakes up from his naps, he likes to dramatically stretch his entire body, arch his back, raise his arms above his head and let out this intense grunting sound. He really enjoys his stretches!

Life is so fun having him around, and I love this little family that we are now. Can’t wait to document his little quirks and tricks as he grows older. Diesel West, you are such a blessing and we love you so much!

Baby Peacock Invite-Display

Out of all the invitations I have ever designed, my baby shower invitation for Diesel is my absolute favorite!

This is a boy-themed invitation, but the colors and letter can be changed to match any color palette and name. So excited to be able to offer this sweet invite to others. 🙂

Baby Peacock is a BOY!

June 1, 2015

Over Memorial Day Weekend, Ben and I had the chance to come back to Tennessee for a few days and see our families. It was great to have everyone (well, mostly everyone!) come to a little baby reveal party that our moms put on. Everything was so cute! I wanted to share these pictures with everyone, and to officially announce that we’re having a BOY and his name is Diesel West Peacock!

And of course…the video! 🙂

A BIG THANK YOU to…

  1. God — We are so excited about this baby boy and pray that you will use him in mighty ways for your Kingdom!

  3. Daddy & Summer — The box was amazing, and we absolutely loved it! It was so fun to know that it was “the biggest one” the Party City people had ever seen! 🙂 Thank you Summer for giving it a fun look with the chalkboard art and polka dots!
  4. Cynthia, Momma, Nicole & Memaw — The decorations were awesome and we loved all of it! 🙂 Thank you, Cynthia, for letting us have it at your house! 🙂
  5. Danny & Naomi — For taking endless amounts of pictures with everyone’s cameras!
  6. Rivers — For being so sweet to share your birthday weekend!
  7. The family — For traveling to be a part of this. We were so glad to have you there!

Sweet Memories: Our Proposal!

March 24, 2015

Today is a very special day! Three years ago today, Ben asked me to marry him. 🙂 Most people don’t understand the engagement video so here’s a quick explanation:

Ben and I dated long distance (He was in Fort Worth; I was in Memphis — 8 hours apart). We saw each other probably once a month in person, taking road trips to see each other and meeting half way as much as we could! We sent each other letters, texted all the time, called every chance we got, and Face-timed each night! He always joked about asking me to marry him through FaceTime but I said he could only do it in person. 😉 So of course, when he asked me to marry him, he did so in person AND on FaceTime! Haha! He took me to our home church, Bellevue Baptist. They have a BEAUTIFUL campus. He had laid out this pretty, white blanket under gorgeous, tall trees and placed a purple orchid in between us, and set up our laptops across from each other. The orchid was symbolic because it was the flower he sent me with a note asking me to be his girlfriend! He also had his big camera set up on a tripod, but that didn’t seem out of the ordinary to me because he was ALWAYS planning photo shoots, being a photographer and all. 🙂 This seemed totally BEN, so I didn’t question it too much, but I may have had a hunch. 😉 What I didn’t know is that he sneakily was filming the entire proposal scene, and even filmed my face while he was asking me!! 🙂 This is a super sweet memory and sums up our entire dating relationship. And I love love love it, and YOU, Ben Peacock. I am so happy that you are mine, and that I get to spend every day for the rest of my life with you.

New Look!

September 15, 2014

Ben and I are celebrating our 2nd anniversary a little early this year – basically because we have a hard time keeping secrets from each other!

Ben surprised me with my own DOT COM status and hosting! (Or as Ben likes to call it, “the gift of web presence.”) I’ve been so excited about this new domain that I’ve been working on it all weekend re-branding, writing posts, and more. Continue Reading…
